Common Misconceptions of ISO
Other functions, such as accounting and engineering, are not included EXCEPT where they directly affect part quality or delivery.
A few people can wear many hats. The “team” can be a couple of people; no one needs to work full time to maintain the system.
Supplier evaluation/development does not mean you have to audit your suppliers on-site.
ISO 9000 does not require “backtracking” to fill files with meaningless information (i.e. control plans, etc…).
A well developed quality system will pass the registration audit the first time.
Properly implemented, ISO 9000 can and will save and make money, improve quality, and reduce waste.
SPC is not a requirement of ISO 9000 or even of TS 16949.
Surveillance audits are never unannounced nor are the areas to be audited unknown.
You will not have to hire a full time "coordinator" to maintain the system.
